Who is AAAASF?

The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities has been accrediting office based surgery facilities and ambulatory surgery centers since 1980. AAAASF has deemed status with Medicare for ASC accreditation. Facilities are accredited in all 50 States and through a subsidiary in seven other countries.

With a background in surgery facility accreditation how will AAAASF have adequate knowledge to be able to accredit RA agencies?

From the first consideration of this project AAAASF has been working with the National Association of Rehab Providers and Agencies (NARA - www.naranet.org )to gain insight into the RA agency environment and to solicit expertise in the development of standards, training of inspectors, and recruitment of inspectors.

Who will actually be doing the inspections?

AAAASF prides itself in using peers to perform inspections. We will recruit inspectors from within the RA community. It is our goal that inspections be performed by professionals who work in RA agencies and have been trained by AAAASF in the RA accreditation standards that we have developed.
